The Response

CCFD, CCSO, and GSP units were quickly dispatched to the scene where they found a female on the ground outside of a vehicle on its side with 2 children still inside, and a second vehicle with heavy front-end damage. Units quickly set to extricating the children and stabilizing the female while dispatchers at the EMA center worked quickly to get a Life Flight helicopter inbound to transport the seriously injured female.
Air Life One, based out of Griffin, GA was the nearest available Life Flight crew and landed on Hwy 27 Alt just south of the accident. The female patient was flown to Grady with serious injuries. The children that were in the same vehicle were transported via ambulance to Grady as well with minor injuries.
GSP Preliminary Accident Information
The following preliminary accident information was provided to NCST by the Georgia State Patrol. Please note that SR41 and US Highway 27 Alt are two names for the same roadway.
On Saturday April 13, 2024, at approximately 3:32 p.m., a Trooper responded to a two-vehicle crash on SR 41 near Donald Lamb Road. During his investigation, it was determined a 2014 Honda Civic was traveling north on SR 41 when it attempted to turn left in front of a 2021 Hyundai Palisade that was traveling south. The driver of the Honda was ejected. The Honda driver was transported by Air Life to Grady with serious injuries. The two children passengers in the Honda were transported by ground to Grady with minor injuries. The driver of the Hyundai was checked on scene by EMS for minor injuries. The highway was shutdown for approximately one hour for investigative purposes and as EMS, Air Life, and wreckers responded to and cleared the scene.
Further Updates
The status of the female and the children, as well as their relation, is unknown at this time and will more than likely remain so unless family members reach out to NCST. We’ve requested a copy of the GSP Accident Report once it has been completed and will update at that time with any further new information.
