We’ll update you with any further information released by authorities.
The Incident
Just before 3:30 AM, June 3rd, 2024, E911 received a call from an individual who was en route to the hospital with an individual they said had been shot.
At the time they called E911, they were near downtown Newnan and actively driving towards PNH. Despite dispatch asking the caller to pull over so they could have an ambulance meet them they continued to the Hospital where they were met by officers from the Newnan Police Department as well as the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.

The male victim was driven to the hospital by the caller – a female – and they had come from a residence off Ishman Ballard Rd.

Victim Give Multiple Accounts of How He Was Shot

While the victim was being treated, units with the Newnan Police Department and Coweta County Sheriff’s Office worked to investigate the location and cause of the shooting.
The caller stated that the victim had shown up at a residence off Ishman Ballard Rd with a gunshot wound and that she’d then left with him to take him to the hospital. Units quickly went to that location to ensure the safety of anyone on scene and to ensure that it was secured incase there was a crime scene at the location.

Meanwhile, the victim told units at the hospital that he’d been driving down Temple Ave. while at a light near Bonnell St had been shot by an unknown source from an unknown direction.

This was quickly updated with the victim stating that he had parked his vehicle in the parking lot of the Family Dollar, located at the same intersection, to “clean his vehicle” and he’d been shot by an unknown source and unknown direction.

Units went to the location where the victim stated the shooting occurred and canvassed the area. They were unable to find any evidence at the time and noted multiple cameras in the area they’d be able to request footage from at a later time.

A while later, the victim again changed the details of the incident. This time stating that he’d shot himself. In this version of the incident, the victim stated that he’d been driving down Temple Ave. heading west when he’d stopped his vehicle in the middle of the roadway, just west of the Temple Ave, Bonnell St. intersection, and shot himself. He then stated that he’d thrown the gun out of the window roughly in front of the Sunoco gas station.

Units again returned to the scene and began canvassing the area in search of the gun, a shell casing, or any other evidence that may have corroborated the series of events given by the victim. After a thorough search of the area units were unable to find any evidence in that area.

Investigation Shifts

By 6 AM the investigation had centered on the residence off Ishman Ballard Rd. and the case was officially handed off to the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.
With them now believing that the location of the shooting was the residence, they secured and executed a search warrant for the residence. Investigators also secured a search warrant for the vehicle that he’d stated he was in when he shot himself, which was the vehicle he’d arrived at the hospital in. The vehicle was towed from the hospital to the CCSO for further investigation.
It’s unknown if any further evidence was gathered at the residence or in the vehicle.
