Just over a week after a shooting incident at Eastgate Apartments, the Newnan Police Department has released a statement regarding the incident and the investigation that has led to 3 arrests so far.
On Tuesday, May 28, at approximately 9:45 p.m. the Newnan Police Department responded to a call reporting “shots fired” around 11 Dowdell Street (Eastgate Apartments). The responding officers located the crime scene at the parking lot, near building 18.
Two suspects and a description of their vehicle were subsequently identified by detectives and the suspects were arrested on May 29, 2024. A third suspect was arrested on May 31, 2024.
Kaleb Tavarion Mayner (17) and Kayvion Donnell Mayner (19) are currently in custody at the Coweta County Jail. They are each charged with 2 counts of Aggravated Assault, Discharging Firearm on the Property of Another, Pointing a Gun at Another, 3 counts of Criminal Damage to Property 1st Degree, Criminal Trespass, Party to the Crime of Aggravated Assault, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony and Reckless Conduct. There are no reported injuries in this case.
Travis Jermaine Blount Jr. is also charged with Tampering with Evidence (Felony). He has been released on bond.
Third Arrest
According to Booking Records as well as other Open Records, the third suspect, Travis Jermaine Blount Jr, 18, was arrested on May 30th at a location off Ball St by members of the Newnan Police Department and transported to the Coweta County Jail where he was booked on the charges below.
Travis Jermaine Blount Jr, 18, of Newnan was booked into the Coweta County Jail on May 31st, 2024 for the following single felony charge.
- Tampering with Evidence – Felony
Records show that he was released on bond on June 1st, 2024.
