Around 7:45 PM on July 26th, 2024, E911 received a call from loss prevention employees at the Kohls in Newnan stating they had a pair of males inside the store that they’d actively seen concealing items on their person. They asked for law enforcement to respond as they continued to observe the suspects.
Deputies with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office, as well as officers with the Newnan Police Department, responded to the area and began to observe the parking lot as the loss prevention employees continued to communicate information they were observing inside the store.
Within a short time, units were informed that one of the suspects had exited the building. They were able to observe the suspect exit the building and walk to a particular vehicle. As they waited for the second suspect to exit the building, they observed a female also enter the vehicle. Units were also informed by loss prevention inside the store that the second suspect had been seen using a knife to remove security devices and the knife could still be on his person.
When the second suspect exited the store and was making his way to the vehicle, units sprang into action. While units blocked in the suspect vehicle the second suspect ran and ended up being tased.
With all three suspects detained, the incident was investigated by the Coweta County Sherrif’s Office, resulting in all three being arrested on various charges and being booked into the Coweta County Jail.
