Authorities Alerted by 911 Caller
Just after 7 PM on September 13th, E911 received a call reporting that there were two juvenile males in the parking lot of Citgo located at 8899 Highway 54 with guns in their waistbands with one wearing a ski mask. They also stated that they were last seen walking in the direction of the Trinity Christian School whose sports fields are located directly behind the Citgo.
At the time Trinity Christian School was hosting their Homecoming Football game at the school.
Deputies were dispatched to the location immediately and LEO working security at the game were notified of the incident and the descriptions of the males.
Within minutes the two juveniles were located as they were entering the stands and were detained by law enforcement.
NCST was quickly contacted by parents and students at the game asking for more information regarding the incident and we were able to contact the Public Information Officer with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.
They were able to confirm that two individuals had been detained and that a BB Gun had been located.
Investigation and Charges
At the conclusion of their investigation, Deputies charged the juvenile who was found with a BB gun in their possession with a Weapon, carrying within school zones, a misdemeanor. The second juvenile, having not broken any laws, was released to their parents.
After contacting the Juvenile intake coordinator who makes the determination on whether juvenile suspects are remanded, or booked, into the Regional Youth Detention Center, the decision was made by the coordinator for deputies to issue a criminal complaint against the suspect and return him to the custody of his legal guardians.
That juvenile suspect, while not booked, was charged with a crime and will be required to appear in Juvenile Court to answer for them on a date set in the complaint.
Trinity Christian School released a statement informing parents of the incident. In it, the school states that neither juvenile were a student of the school.
NCST has been able to confirm with authorities that neither juvenile attends any school within Coweta County.
