NCST News School Informs Parents of Incident
Just after 2 PM on Friday, September 13th, 2024, Jessica Slaton, the Principal of Evans Middle School, released a statement informing parents of a security incident at the school.
The statement advised parents that a member of the administration had been informed by a student that morning that another student was in possession of a vape.
During a search of the student, a vape was found. Inside the students backpack, administrators located a ” large 8-inch kitchen knife. “
The student was arrested by the Newnan Police Department and removed from the campus.
Due to the students’ age, information is restricted from open records by state law. Details regarding the students’ age, identity, and charges have not been released by authorities.
We can assume that this student, like others found carrying a weapon of any type at school, was charged with Weapons, carrying in school zones, a misdemeanor, however we have been unable to confirm this.
This is an ongoing investigation and we will continue to update as information becomes available.
