Grantville Mayor, Richard Proctor, posts a video to his FB Page providing information confirming that Williams was seen in the City the night before, and that he was able to purchase a wool cap and scarf at a store and was wearing a t-shirt.

A Hogansville PD officer reports seeing a black male in grey sweats ran into the woods towards the east in the area of the intersection of Minnie Sewell Rd and Blue Creek Rd.
Units from the CCSO, GSP, HPD, and TCSO rush to the area and search using dogs and drones without locating the suspect.

Ok, so the helicopter has left, Air Life has been stood down and I’m being told that negative contact was made at the location they were focusing on, some type of mobile structure. I can only gather there was some type of heat signature seen at or in the structure that caused the response. Sources on the ground in the area are telling me that are in a draw down and that the operation is over for the night. The suspect remains at large.

I’m told that a heat signature has been located near a “mobile structure” in the woods south of the dead end of Meriwether St, roughly in the area where the suspect was seen on a trail cam previously.

As units flood into the area, an Air Life unit placed on standby for pending SWAT operation. DoPS Helicopter leaves the area to refuel, Coweta County Drone Teams keep watch in it’s absence. CCSO SWAT team seen in the area.

Arrest warrants have been issued for Ira Troy Williams wanted for Aggravated Assault against a police officer for shooting at Troopers during the car chase.
He was last seen running into the woods near Highway 29 at Calico Loop, Grantville, GA.
WILLIAMS IS CONSIDERED ARMED AND DANGEROUS. (1)

Authorities receive a report from a resident in the area of 1400 Grandma Branch Rd stating they witnessed a black male run into the woods behind their house.
Units from the CCSO, GSP, GPD, US Marshall Service and others deploy to the area and using drones, dogs and officers clear the area without finding the suspect.

E911 receives a citizen report of a black male, thin build, grey beard in the area of 1610 Alexander Rd near the intersection of Grandma Branch Rd.

While the GBI released the suspects name, NCST was able to obtain and sufficiently confirm a photo of the suspect, releasing it to the public.

GBI takes lead on the investigation and manhunt, releases information including the identity of the suspect.
Grantville, Coweta County, GA (12/18/2024) – The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in Grantville, Coweta County, Georgia. The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on December 18, 2024. One man, identified as Ira Troy Willams, age 51, was identified as the subject of the officer involved shooting. One GSP K-9 Officer was shot. No other Troopers were injured during the incident. The K-9 Officer was treated and released from a veterinary hospital.
The preliminary information indicates on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at about 1:45 p.m., a GSP Trooper initiated a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Cruze traveling southbound on Interstate 85 (I-85). The driver, Williams, provided his driver’s license to the Trooper performing the traffic stop. Williams then drove away from the scene, traveling southbound on I-85, leading to a car chase by GSP. During the chase, Williams fired a weapon several times from his car at Troopers and Coweta County Deputies who joined the chase. The Troopers returned gunfire.
Troopers performed several PIT maneuvers to disable the Chevrolet Cruze. The car chase ended in Grantville. Williams got out of his car and again fired his weapon several times at the Troopers while running away. It is unknown at this time whether Williams was injured during the incident. Williams has not been taken into custody at this time. (1)

Pursuit takes a left on to Highway 29 South and continues through Downtown Grantville.
Troopers performed several PIT maneuvers to disable the Chevrolet Cruze. The car chase ended in Grantville. Williams got out of his car and again fired his weapon several times at the Troopers while running away. It is unknown at this time whether Williams was injured during the incident. (1)
