Vehicle Reported Stolen
Just after 7:45 PM on Friday, April 11th, E911 received a call from a resident off Briarwood Court stating that three black males had just stolen their black F-150 from their yard and driven off in the direction of Shenandoah Blvd. Due to the location of the incident units with both the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office as well as the Newnan Police Department were notified of the theft and several units were dispatched to the scene. Dispatch was able to get the tag information from the victim and get the information out to the units quickly.
The victim informed dispatch that after driving away the thieves stopped at the corner of Briarwood Court and Valley Brook Dr where they picked up a third black male who had been standing on the corner. They also stated that the males were wearing black hoodies and facemask.
Around 5 minutes after the initial call was received a possible sighting was relayed to 911 of the vehicle headed east on Hwy 34 near the intersection with International Park. Units in the area were unable to locate it at that time.
However around 8:15 PM the vehicle was sighted in the area of Junction Lanes off Shenandoah Blvd headed toward Lower Fayetteville Rd, units worked quickly to respond to the area in attempt to intercept the suspects. Other units moved to search the neighborhoods in the area, including those off Forest Cir.
Within minutes a deputy checking the parking lot of Foxworth Forest Apartments off Forest Circle located the vehicle. As he came upon the vehicle 4 black males ran from the vehicle and into the wood line behind the apartment complex.
Tow suspects were quickly detained while units with both the CCSO and NPD began a search for other suspects using a K9 and drones. Due to the safety and security of law enforcement further operations where conducted on encrypted frequencies.
