9/9/24 – 2 deputies responding lights and sirens down Wagers Mill Rd. (3:30 PM)

Given the time and information provided, I believe these units were responding to assist in a medical call in the area.

9/7/24 – Five sheriff deputies outside of [ Franklin Rd Food Mart ] with owner had store blocked off (8:45 AM)

This was the result of a traffic stop by the CCSO that occurred at 8:24 AM and resulted in the arrest of Eugene Travon Hughes, 28, of Newnan. He was charged with the following:

  • VGCSA Sch 1/2 Narcotic Possession (F)
  • Marijuana – Possess Less than 1 Oz (M)
  • Willful Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers (M)
  • Operating Vehicles without Registration / Valid Tag (M)

9/5/24 – White Kia Sorrento leading CCSO on a high-speed chase through the city of Franklin at very high speed (6:00 PM)

Just after 7 PM on September 5th, 2024, a CCSO Officer patrol West Highway 34 attempted to stop a White Kia Sorento for a traffic violation. The vehicle, instead of stopping, sped up and led the Deputy on a vehicle pursuit that quickly crossed into Heard County.

Due to the location of the pursuit, other CCSO officers were unable to catch up to the pursuit and Heard County units were already on a priority call.

The CCSO Deputy continued the pursuit, alone, until the vehicle passed into Alabama, at which point the CCSO Deputy was forced to suspend the pursuit and return to the county.
