GSP Report Released
The Georgia State Patrol has released their accident report for April 13th’s serious accident on Highway 27 Alternate.
The report states that a 2014 Honda Civic ( Vehicle 1 ), driven by a 40 yr old female from Moreland, GA attempted to make a left turn onto Donald Lamb Rd in front of a 2021 Hyundai Palisade ( Vehicle 2 ) being driven by a female from Greenville, GA.
The driver of the Civic was ejected from the vehicle and life-flighted from the scene. Also inside the Civic were a 12-year-old male and a 17-year-old female who sustained minor injuries and were taken to Grady by ground ambulance.
Per NCST policy, names of individuals involved in accidents are only released if a driver is arrested or charged with a crime, or at the request of family. In this case, names will not be released.
GSP Report Narrative
The GSP accident report described the following regarding the accident.
Vehide 1 was traveling north on SR-41 and turning left onto Donald Lamb Road. Vehide 2 was traveling south on SR-41 in the outside lane. The passenger side of Vehide 1 and the front of Vehicle 2 collided. Area of initial impact was in the outside, southbound lane of SR-41.
After initial impact, Vehicle 1 traveled southwest and struck a ditch. Vehicle 1 then began to overturn dockwise. Vehicle 1 did a full rotation and landed on its drivers side where th roof of the vehicle struck several small trees. In the process of overturning, Driver 1 was ejected. Vehide 1 then came to a rest facing generally northwest on its drivers side with the roof resting against the small trees.
After initial impact, Vehicle 2 exited the right side of the roadway and struck a large tree.
Driver 1 was unable to speak due to injuries sustained on scene.
Driver 2 stated she was traveling south on SR-41 in the outside lane when Vehide 1 turned left in front of her to tum west onto Donald Lamb Road.
The report also indicates that the driver of Vehicle 1, the Honda Civic, was issued at least 3 citations. Details on the citations are not currently available.
