The Deputies would search the area for the suspect, eventually locating him roughly a mile north, in the 400 block of Lake Circle.

The suspect, James Arthur Miller, 36, was still in possession of the sword as units approached him on the side of the road. Miller was placed into custody without incident and booked into the Coweta County Jail.

Previous Criminal History

Miller’s most recent booking was in Coweta County on March 15th, 2024 when he was arrested during a traffic stop after deputies discovered drugs in his possession. He was charged with the following two charges.

  • VGCSA SCH 1/2 NARCOTIC POSSESSION (F)
  • VGCSA DRUG-RELATED OBJECTS (M)

Miller has yet to be indicted on these charges by the Superior Court.

Miller also shows two Superior Court cases in 2009. One for Forgery 1st Degree, for which he received 3 years, suspended and served probation as part of a negotiated plea deal.

The second case is for failing to register as a sex offender. In October of 2009, Miller entered a negotiated plea deal on the charge and was sentenced to 10 years, 3 to serve, 7 years probation.

In 2012 the State petitioned the court to revoke his probation, instead his probation was modified. In 2013 the state again petitioned the court to revoke his probation, this time the court agreed and sent him to a state prison for 2 years.

Registered Sex Offender

According to the GBI Sex Offender Registry, Miller is a Level 2 Sex Offender last known to live in Franklin, GA.

This may become a further issue for Miller, as he relayed in this latest booking that he’s homeless. However, during his March 15th booking from this year, records indicate that he gave an address in the Sweetbriar MHP off Sweetbriar Dr in Coweta County.

Sex Offenders are required to notify law enforcement of any address change.

His entry on the registry indicates the initial incident for which he was found guilty occurred in 2006. The offense names on the site also indicates this was not the first time he’d been charged with a sexual offense.
